Homeownership is sometimes called a part of the American Dream, where one has equal opportunity to obtain prosperity and success, as well as upward social mobility for family and children, achieved through hard work in a society with few barriers. A program of the Oak Park Regional Housing Center is the West Cook Homeownership Center. WCHC is a program with a mission to create vibrant communities by providing financial capability training, housing counseling of low and moderate-income (LMI) households, and investment without displacement to improve opportunities in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Anyone is eligible to use our homeownership services, which include home buying education, down payment assistance and a foreclosure outreach program but our primary service area includes: Bellwood, Berkeley, Berwyn, Broadview, Brookfield, Cicero, City of Chicago (Austin and Garfield Park) Elmwood Park, Forest Park, Franklin Park, La Grange, La Grange Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, North Riverside, Oak Park, River Forest, River Grove, Riverside, Stickney, Stone Park, and Westchester.
