The mission of the Oak Park Regional Housing Center is to achieve meaningful and lasting racial diversity in Oak Park and beyond. The three bolded words in our mission drive our purpose and activities. We believe that the fundamental issue in the communities and regions of metropolitan America is racial segregation. Therefore we work to overcome that barrier and build communities that are open, integrated, and inclusive.
Our vision is for the communities of the Greater West Side to be vibrant are welcoming to people of all races. We believe that by increasing housing options, expanding where opportunities are available, and improving resources in under-resourced communities will result in a stronger, fairer, more equitable, and more prosperous region. We envision a Greater West Side that is a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that attracts and welcomes people of all races.
